...THE WHOLE STORY...

Rogerio was Born in Goiania, Brazil, in a family of musicians, painters and sculptors, and has been involved with music since the age of 2.

When he turned 15 he got his first drum kit and one year later was already working professionally in Brazil, as a free lance musician, with many artists in his region.

At the age of 18 Rogerio was the only Brazilian drummer to win a scholarship from the U.S. Government to study classical percussion and big band drumming in the United States at the International Music Camp in North Dakota representing his country.

A year later Rogerio was one of the ten best drummers in a Brazilian contest sponsored by the "Drum" school in Sao Paulo.

At the age of 20 Rogerio was one of the first call drummer s in his region in Brazil, helping him learn a vast variety of African-Brazilian, Latin, Caribbean and North American rhythms.

At the age of 21 Rogerio moved to Hamburg, Germany, where he lived for seven years. The fist two years he worked in a Brazilian nightclub as a drummer/singer, bringing him closer than ever to his Brazilian-Latin roots.

After quitting that nightclub Rogerio continued working as an established 'free-lance' musician in Germany for another five years and in that time formed a band with musicians Roland Cabezas, Michael Allen and Ricardo Alvarez called 'Side by Side', a project that "jump-started" his career as a composer, releasing an album called "SIDE BY SIDE: WHATCOLORISWATER"

In 1997 at the age of 28 Rogerio participated in a World Contest for drummers and percussionists sponsored by the American Magazine "JAZZIZ", and became one of the six best drummers in the competition. Instead of a 'drum solo' he wrote a 'tribal' melodic song consisting of only his vocals and his drumming.

A year later Rogerio moved to Los Angeles, USA to pursue his career, starting "from scratch" for the third time.

After many years as a stablished free-lance musician In Los Angeles playing many different styles of music, Rogerio released his first solo cd entitled 'MIDRAJ', where he wrote, produced and recorded all songs and played all instruments. During this time he was recording and performing with the renowned percussionist/singer Vinx.

After that he started a Latin-World Music-Pop project with guitarist Bill Macpherson called "KEEVA", releasing one album called 'SEREIA'. After the album was released they formed a band with bassist Melvin Lee Davis and percussionist Alberto Lopez.

A few years later he joined the Celtic-Rock band 'Bad Haggis' and the famous 80's Pop group 'Naked Eyes', touring extensively around the U.S., Latin America and Europe.

With BAD HAGGIS Rogerio co-wrote and recorded an album called "Wine Dark Sea" and the group was nominated in 6 categories for the JPF Awards www.jpfolks.org, including “Best World Music CD” for WINE DARK SEA out of 350,000 songs, 25,500+ albums, 1000+ videos from 70 countries around the world. A panel of 8000 judges reviewed the entries without knowing the names of the artists of more than 80 genres/categories from A Capella, Classical, Children’s, Celtic, and Gospel to Hip Hop, Rock, Heavy Metal, Industrial, R&B, Blues and many more.

At the end of 2007 Rogerio was invited to do a remix on song from late Brazilian Icon Luis Bonfa (Black Orpheus, 1959). The remix has been played on the radio show hosted by Sérgio Mielnizchenko “Global Village - KPFK - Brazilian Hour” since its completion in 2008.
